Dun Dun Duh Nuh Nuh Nuh GO PACK GO!

December 13th marked the greatest day that I've had thus far (well maybe I wouldn't go that far but def top 10). As stated in my previous post, we went to the Packers/Bears game at Soldier Field!

Section 223!
It was so fun, but we discovered that Bears' fans are really not nice at all, except for a select few. As you may have seen/heard, Meghan and Dad went to a Packer game at Lambeau a few years back, and it was veryyyy cold. She pulled through and went the end of the game in her bikini top, and I had made the decision to do the same at my first big girl game (I went to Lambeau when I was 13, and to the Rams/Packers game my Senior year of high school in STL which obvi doesn't count).

Matching Ear Luggs
After much harassment for just BEING a Packer fan, the fourth quarter came around. It was 30 degrees and we were losing. I was skeptical about shedding the jacket and jersey for fear of death and frostbite, but we got a really good run in and were in the red zone. I took off the layers with confidence: Sports Bra, tutu, Ear lugg hat and all. The fans around me did not respond well. There were B-words, and W-words, and people commenting on my weight, but I stuck it out while popcorn and hotdogs were thrown. Thank St. Vince that we won, because I'm not sure what I would have done otherwise! After the game, some nice (because very drunk) bears' fans wanted a pic with the Green Bay girl and all worked out in the end. Haters still passed, but others appreciated the die-hardness that was shown. Definitely a day to remember.

TODAY'S THE DAY! (caps means shouting)

It has finally come.

Sunday, December 13th, 2009.

There will be a high of 36 and a low of 32.

We will be in section 223...the south side of Soldier Field.

Look for us in the green and gold tutus.

Last night we stalked Nick Barnett and he smile and waved from his cab when I yelled "GO PACKERS" I then tweeted him to tell him about that experience and HE. TWEETED. BACK. and said "Yea I saw you guys! :-)"

Now most of you who read this understand how awesome this is...but for those who aren't familiar with the Packers...Nick Barnett is to me what Beyonce is to normal people. Just to put it in perspective.

GO PACK GO!

Gobble, Gobble, Trot , Trot

Thanksgiving means many-a-thing to the Randy Ekern family: Dining out, watching football, bloodies and beer, shopping, and now apparently running in the cold. That's right people, this year Meghan convinced us that we had to run the Turkey Trot 5k in Chesterfield, MO as a family. So, after a nice T-day dinner at the Melting Pot, we woke up at the crack of dawn, and ran, and all of us completed the race...So go team.
Now anyone who knows me knows that I will use any excuse to make a t-shirt (high school senior activities, Harry Potter 6 premiere, New Moon premiere, etc.) So Mom and I decided that we would get some shirts made. We got them in Packer colors, and I said that there was no way in H that I would run 3.1 miles without an incentive, so the front said "Beer Run 09...Thanksgiving Edition" and the back said "EKERN" with the number of the year we were born.
(Did I mention it was bleeping cold? Well It was, so we all look 4 times larger than we are because of the layers. Don't judge us.)

Consequently, I finished the race, went straight to the car, straight to the cooler, and drank my beer.
The rest of the fam followed, Meghan got her banana, and I guess this is a new tradish.
The Ekern Family is now on the run.
