Cooking Light: The Valentine's Edition

Okay, so I stole this concept from Greta...and it's not really cooking light, but the point is I cooked on V-day and here's what happened.

A. I started the day by making som delish heart shaped scones.
B. For dinner we made this awesome spinach pasta. It looks kinda gross, but it was yummo.
C. For dessert I made a cake. (and by made I mean bought).

Joe got me an orchid plant, because when he bought me flowers before, I was sad that they died so quickly. This way I can water them and keep it alive (as long as I remain responsible)! I also got a V-day balloon.

This all seems completely irrelevant now that it's MAY, but it happened and I'm trying to go in order here, so bare with me please. :)

XOXO

Meet Joe.

So I figure since this is supposed to be a blog about my life, I should let you in on a person who's become a big part of it, right? Meet Joe: a guy friend from high school who went into the Air Force after high school (he's 2 grades older than me). I didn't see him for 3 years, he came back over break, and the rest is history!

Anyway, Joe moved to Florida a couple weeks ago (bummer!). He is done with active duty in the Air Force after living in England, going to Afghanistan, and living in Idaho. Now he is in the Guard and works on fighter jets at the Jacksonville International Airport (hence the moving down there). I went with him in mid-January to look for houses, schools, and get his job situated . This post will document this Jacksonville trip (and Orlando thanks to my need to visit Disney World whenever possible).

We went to the Jax Zoo. Here we saw some interesting things: from the largest rodent in the world to a couple of semi-pornographic rhinos (I won't post those pictures...talk about awkward. I try to keep this blog PG-13.) The picture of Joe above is him reenacting the TV Show, Legends of the Hidden Temple, that used to be on Nickelodeon. Remember that one? The kids were on teams named "The Blue Barracudas" or "The Purple Monkeys" and they stood on stone steps and were asked questions. If they got it right, they got to move down a step. Then there were some obstacles and such to get through as well. Anywayyyyyy...

The Teacups at Disney

We were in FL for a week, and Jacksonville is only a couple hours from Orlando, so of course we had to drive on over to the most magical place on Earth: DISNEY WORLD! Joe hadn't been since he was like 6, so there were plenty of things for us to explore. I've been there about 6 times since I was 6, so I was able to pick and choose the most crucial rides for us to enjoy because I basically could have built the park myself with my plethora of knowledge. To wrap up this post I'll leave you with the most magical picture I have ever taken at Disney World (and on my iPhone no less).

XOXO
